Overview:
Our one-day Advanced Navigation Course revises and and develops you to the top level. You will learn the correct use of the compass to take bearings and back-bearings, to understand contours and different slope shapes and how that will affect your journey.
Timings are generally a 09:00AM meeting and briefing. Then a circular day walk of around 6-10km (depending on group ability and aims ) with a finish at 4.00PM.
Who is the Course For:
Use contours and fine detail to navigate. Learn Aspect of Slope, Break of Slope and other techniques to assist your nav.
Use a compass - learn to use back bearings, transits, boxing, dog legs and leap frogging.
Navigate in intricate terrain in reduced visibility i.e. mist or darkness.
Assess the route 'on the day' and make changes if needed. Escape routes.
Relocation techniques.
The ratio for these courses is 1:4.
