Overview:
Our evening-long Night Navigation Course revises and and develops specfic skills to allow you to navigate confidently at night or in low visibility (mist and fog).
In Winter - Timings are generally a 5:00PM meeting and briefing. Then a circular walk of around 4km (depending on group ability and aims ) with a finish at 9.00PM.
Who is the Course For:
This evening-long Night Navigation Course is for those who are quite confident. Before you come you will already be able to use a compass for bearings and back bearings. You will be able to relate contour features from map to ground and back. You will quickly realise if you are 'lost' and be confident at starting to Relocate yourself.
What's Involved:
Preparing ahead. Preparing your kit. Light discipline.
Planning short routes.
Staying in contact with the map.
Pacing and timings.
Bearings. Using the moon and stars as navigation aids.
Relocation techniques.
Instructor to client ratio:
The ratio for these courses is 1:4.
